Blades and Blasters

Miniature projects in many scales and periods, and likely a few digressions.

Had so much fun with this guy - acrylic retarder, oil wash and oil highlights. I think I need to practice some NMM though, literally first ever attempt. Hmmm I guess these gladiators need somewhere to duke it out… #warcry #morkborg #forbiddenpsalm #darkageofsigmar #mordheim #turnip28
Starter sketch for a gladiator from some #warcry spares. I’ve had a project on the back burner for years that I might pick up - rewriting/reskinning Ganesha games mighty monsters as a sort of Dark Souls Duel style very low figure count system #forbiddenpsalm #morkborg #inq28 #darkageofsigmar #mordheim
With much thanks to @itswhatevan I’ve been tinkering with on model blending - I didn’t have any gouache so was liberal with acrylic retarder instead - this guy was zenith, then covered in burnt umber with retarder then all colours worked up and in from there, felt a bit like my oil experiments but more desaturated. Then oil wash, then white oil highlights. Really fun - I fancy a little self contained project painted like this, maybe for #mörkboll or #forbiddenpsalm - fun! #mordheim #morkborg #wargamesfoundry
Wow this is cool - thanks everyone!
This 10mm thing is getting serious! Slightly converted evil space chap from the excellent @killmeforprizes #oldhammer40k #roguetrader40k #warhammer40k2ndedition #stargrave #6mmminiatures #epic40k
The upside of varnish disaster is that I had a few spares to play around with techniques on. These are all thin coats over zenith then oil washed - in these closeups they looks scruffy but it’s quite nice in real life #warhammer40k2ndedition #oldhammer40k #roguetrader40k #6mmminiatures #10mmwargaming #stargrave #heroforgeminis
